Christoph Oertel,
born on 13th June 1960 at 5:25 p.m. in Hamm/Westfalia,
works and lives in Berlin.


Vita and Training

1975-85
Played in various bands as a drummer and bassman.

1981-85
Composition & production of experimental pieces of music and noise for experimental films in the circle of 'Osnabrücker Experimentalfilm Workshop' (later 'European Media Art Festival' EMAF)

1981-89
Studies of musicology at University Osnabrück with Prof. Dr. Bernd Enders
and Technical University Berlin with Prof. Helga de la Motte specialising on Minimal Music, music for films, sound studio. Private lessons in composition with Matthias Wittekopf

1986-89
Leading and joining the 'ENSEMBLE ES' performing various pieces by Steve Reich (i.e. 'DRUMMING'). Concerts in the 'Academy of Arts' (Berlin) and in 'Würzburger Stadttheater' at 'Tage der neuen Musik'

1986-89
Studies of film music, film sound and sound design by working on various films of the
Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (dffb - german tv and film academy)

1994-96
Training and graduating as Audio Engineer at the School of Audio Engineering Berlin (SAE)

since 1989
composition and production of various pieces of music for radio plays, theatre and mainly film scores for tv and cinema movies

since 2000
works as sound designer and foley recordist/editor for both tv plays and motion pictures.
